Aoki Takefumi Solo Exhibition - Floating Vessels

白磁を泥漿にして、石膏型を使った鋳込みやイッチン(スポイトみたいなもの)を使い制作をしています。制作工程自体は他のやきものと変わりはありませんが、それぞれの技法や素材の現象を自分なりに理解して展開することで、やきものの可能性を考えています。
イッチンで絞り出して重ねた形と鋳込みで作り出した形、同じ白磁でも技法によって表情が異なります。それらを組み合わせることで生まれる形や構造、面と粒の対比、また1230度程度での焼成を耐え抜いて焼きあがった白磁の緊張感に面白さを感じながら制作を続けています。
最近は、鋳込みの形をなくし物理的にも視覚的にも軽くして、やきものを飛びあがらせてみたい、そんな気持ちがあります。

Among many methods I use combination of slip-casting and application of slip-trailing. The process itself is not much different from other ceramic work but I focus more on the potential through my own understanding and development of skills and material expression.
While each method has its own advantage, I find it particularly interesting to see how utilizing various techniques and tools can bear connection between forms and structures while enhancing contrasts between lines and dots.
Just imagining how my work turns out in the end especially after having them endure under the heat as high as 1230℃ simply makes me thrilled. My next inspiration may be working without casting in order to create more freedom to pottery both physically and visually so the pieces can fly up and down on their own.
