この度、アレッサンドロ・ヌティーニ 個展「象徴的なトーテムー喚起されるかたち」 を開催いたします。
ヌティーニ氏はイタリア・フィレンツェに生まれました。ルネサンスの伝統的絵画を学び、やがてローマに先立つ古代エトルリア文明に深く魅せられ、その精神は今も彼の表現の源となっています。各国を旅するなかで日本文化にも強く惹かれ、1990年代半ばより毎年のように日本を訪れ、制作と発表を続けています。
これまで発表の中心は油彩や水彩画でしたが15年ほど前から密かに木彫の制作に取り組んできました。近隣の森や川に朽ちていた木々、あるいは親しい隣人から譲り受けた古材を素材とし、時間をかけて丁寧に彫り進めた作品には、古代文明の霊的な記憶と、人の存在や営みの痕跡が静かに息づいています。時に磨かれた滑らかな木肌に触れながら、ヌティーニ氏が暮らすトスカーナの古く美しい高台の村落にも、思いを馳せていただければ幸いです。

We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition “Evocative Symbolic Totems“
by an Italian artist Alessandro Nutini.
Born in Florence, Nutini studied traditional techniques of Renaissance painting before becoming deeply inspired by the ancient Etruscan civilisation, which flourished in central Italy prior to the founding of Rome. The spiritual essence of that early culture continues to serve as a profound source for his artistic expression.
Throughout his travels around the world, Nutini has also developed a strong fascination with Japanese culture. Since the mid-1990s, he has visited Japan almost every year, creating and exhibiting his works.
While he is best known for his oil and watercolor paintings, about fifteen years ago he began quietly exploring the medium of wood sculpture. Using driftwood found in nearby forests and rivers, or reclaimed wood gifted by close neighbours, he spends a long period of time carving each piece with care and patience.
These sculptures embody both the spiritual memory of ancient civilisations and the quiet traces of human life and presence. As viewers encounter the smooth wooden surfaces gently polished by time, we hope they will also be reminded of the old and beautiful Tuscan medieval hilltop village where the artist lives and works.
