この度、前田正憲 特集展示「ripples of colors 彩の波紋」を開催いたします。 前田氏が探究してきたテーマのひとつに、「両忘」という禅語があります。 相対する二つの存在が対立や区別を離れて溶け合い、ひとつの本質へと収束していく。 私はこの言葉を、そのように受け取りました。 その画風は戦後国際的に展開した抽象表現からの影響がうかがわれますが、岩絵具の 粒子や筆の動きに宿る人の息づかい、抑制された造形表現を通して、仏教的哲学を背景 とする日本古来の美観が静かに感じられ、前田氏独自の世界が構築されています。 本展では7点の新作を、ギャラリーの工芸コレクションと併せて展示いたします。 ただただ、画面をただよう彩の波紋に身を委ねるように、楽しんでいただければ 幸いです。

We are pleased to present a special exhibition by Maeda Masanori,
“ripples of colors.”
One of the central themes that Maeda has long explored is the Zen concept of Ryōbō (both-forgetting), which refers to the dissolution of opposing dualities into a unified essence. I interpret this term as the moment when distinctions and conflicts fade away, allowing contrasting elements to merge into a single, deeper reality.
While his work reflects the influence of postwar international abstract expression, it also conveys a quiet sense of traditional Japanese aesthetics rooted in Buddhist philosophy. Through the texture of mineral pigments, the rhythm of the brush, and his restrained compositional approach, one can sense the presence and breath of the artist. These elements come together to form Maeda’s distinctive artistic world.
This exhibition presents seven new works alongside selections from the gallery’s craft collection.
We hope visitors will immerse themselves in the gentle ripples of color drifting across the surface and experience the works with an open and contemplative mind.
